Anti-Obesity Campaign – World Obesity Day (March 4, 2025)
Theme: "Healthy India, Fit India: Fight Obesity Together"
In observance of World Obesity Day on March 4, 2025, India is launching a nationwide campaign to combat the alarming rise in obesity, which has doubled in recent years and is a major contributor to diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases. This initiative aims to promote healthy eating habits, increased physical activity, and sustainable lifestyle changes to create a Fit India.
Objectives:
Raise Awareness about the risks of obesity and ways to prevent it.
Encourage Preventive Measures like mindful eating, reducing portion sizes, and regular exercise.
Engage Schools, Workplaces & Communities in active participation for long-term health benefits.
Support Policy Actions to regulate junk food marketing and promote healthier food choices.
PM Modi’s Call to Action:
In his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the urgent need to address obesity and the role of diet and lifestyle in tackling it. He emphasized:
“Obesity is not just a personal challenge, but a national concern. By making small changes in our food habits, reducing oil consumption, and increasing physical activity, we can ensure a healthier future for ourselves and our children.”
SHARP NGO’s #KatoriSeKato Campaign
To amplify this mission, SHARP NGO has launched the campaign #KatoriSeKato – meaning “Cut your diet to stay fit”. This initiative focuses on:
